Though primarily self-taught Parker has studied with a number of instructors. As a Biology major (1966-70) at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he studied art history with art critics Nicolas Calas and Gregory Battcock and painting and sculpture with Leon Golub and Albert Clark. (Respectively). While studying Marine Biology at F.D.U.'s West Indies Lab, St. Croix U.S.V.I. He studied with painter Arlyse Segal. In the late 1980's Parker studied with painter\ sculptor Charles Arcier who became a mentor and friend. Most recently Parker has studied printmaking with master printmaker Rimer Cardillo at SUNY New Paltz.
